‘Orbit’ Desk Lamp, produced in Italy, c1980s. Executed in pale grey enamelled metal with contrasting red details, the lamp features a spherical central body encircled by a wide ring, recalling Saturn. The sphere pivots freely upon its angled base, allowing the elongated arm to sweep through a broad orbital path and the hemispherical shade to be positioned at varying heights and angles. A rare example of Italian Postmodern lighting design, uniting its planetary form with a remarkably versatile adjustment mechanism.
